BROWSER GAMES!

numuki

if you're looking for an old flash game from your youth, odds are it's on here! they have all the Papas games, almost all the American Girl games are on here, tons of Nickelodeon and Disney games, that sort of thing!

Nitrome

although nitrome makes more apps nowadays, a lot of their browser games still work! Nitrome Must Die is a favorite of mine. their specialty is the two-player one keyboard style of game that you don't see very often anymore! got a friend over and you're bored? check it out!

Club Penguin

club penguin rewritten was The club penguin revival, but they got got. now there's a bunch of competitors.

  • Club Penguin Journey is decently populated on its one server and the game seems fully functional! they even have an in-game community event bulletin board!
  • Club Penguin Island requires that you download the latest Flash player, but then the link takes you to an unhelpful disney page... it LOOKS like it's an official disney attempt but I can't get it to work. maybe someone had the OG code and just Uploaded it without fixing it
  • Club Penguin Chapter 2 has 3 very quiet servers and rooms that aren't available yet. it is a ghost town, but they're working on it!
  • Club Penguin Legacy has one decently populated server and has safety features for real kids, not just nostalgia seekers! it doesn't seem to be missing anything!

We the Pixies

it's a reconstruction of Pixie Hollow! it's a work in progress, but they've already got several locations, clothes, music, online chat, and a minigame working! they have a discord server where they host events like art contests and spotify playlist making! there aren't accounts yet, though. after you make your pixie, there's a code for you to copy and paste somewhere safe, and anything you buy or pick up can't be saved. if you miss this game, why not check it out?

here's a screenshot from the time there was a glitch where you could only say one word at a time but we still managed to discuss Shrek :)

Neopets

this site is THRIVING. it is SO back babey. you like virtual pets? they got it! you like the stock market and banks with intrest? i'm pretty sure they have it!

Vimm's Lair

a vault of every known game for 27 different consoles, Vimm's Lair is set up so you can play every Nintendo DS, GBA, Gameboy Color, Virtual Boy, Game Gear, Lynx, Gameboy, and Atari (and a bunch more but i'm tired of clicking) game in your browser!

The Internet Archive

it's a library! this links you to their software page. they have several things that are playable in-browser! one of those is the oregon trail, which is very very hard and evil. have fun!

EX BROWSER GAMES

Animal Jam

when we lost Flash, animal jam was one of the games that compensated by becoming a downloadable sort of thing. it's all still there! the playerbase has changed, though. most places are absolutely deserted, and then you'll stumble into a specific room and there will be 50+ players in there all talking like it's just a chatroom. good luck!

Webkinz

Webkinz also became a downloadable thing, but now they've got a new 3d game that seems to be reviving the franchise. personally i think all the new stuff including the stuffed animals are horrifying in style, but webkinz Classic is also still up and running! there are still players in the trading room almost all the time! don't forget the game lets you pick a free pet upon startup, so you don't have to buy one to join.

Moshi Monsters rewritten

honestly this game's art style made me uncomfortable as a kid, but i still remember my neighbor using it to contact her boyfriend since she had no phone and no email. i didn't download this one, but hey! maybe you wanted to know about this.

NOT A BROWSER GAME BUT STILL FREE AND GOOD

Sky: Children of the Light

there's more to it than meets the eye! plus AURORA gave a virtual concert in there and it broke records. this game is designed for you to meet people, and not only does it work, but it restores your faith in humanity every second you're in there. there's lots of visual storytelling and 'quests', beautiful graphics and a soundtrack composed by a philharmonic orchestra (and aurora sometimes), and the kindest gaming community you will ever meet. there's also a very cool overarching plot thing that i will not spoil for you! it's entirely free with "in-app purchases" that are very not in your face. go make some memories! it's not on PC yet, but it will be soon!
